Within the first minute he picked the ball up in midfield, skipped past 2 Potton players before dragging his shot wide of the post. James Smith was then called upon to clear after Archie Jones played a ball across the 6 yard box.
Potton started to get into the game, and a good move between Jordan Brown and Eddie Connolly saw Connolly brought down on the edge of the area. Cole Butler stepped up and unleashed a powerful free kick into the top corner to put the visitors 1-0 up. Stevens saw his long range shot curl past the post for the home side and then Bedford appealed for a penalty in the 25th minute after a strong challenge by Jack Thomas but the appeals were waved away by referee Tom Ratherham who had an excellent game.
Real Bedford equalised in the 34th minute after winning a corner which was cleared as far as Bedford captain Drew Richardson whose shot from 35 yards left Hoskins in the Potton goal no chance. Connolly saw his shot go wide of the post after a pinpoint cross from Essa Rashan. The hosts continued to press and Mike Evans denied them a second goal with a goal-line clearance on the stroke of half time. HT 1-1
