Scouts well-prepared to beat much-changed Biggy side

With five changes from last week’s successful side, Biggleswade came a distant second in their trip to the Midlands 2 East (South) leaders Northampton Old Scouts, going down 18-44.

The player shortage was so acute at hooker that veteran Karl Marshall started his first league match for three years, and club chairman Stan Matthews was required to play for the last half an hour.

In the warm up the Scouts looked very “professional” all wearing identical kit including training tops. They soon proved that they were the business when the match began and Biggleswade was chasing shadows all afternoon.

Biggy had the advantage of the brisk wind at their backs and the slope but did not make the most of it. As soon as the teams turned round the Scouts’ number 10 showed exactly how to use the element.
