The start of the second half of the season saw S&S face Leighton Buzzard on a cold blustery afternoon.

S&S started slowly with a few cobwebs being dusted off a number of sticks and a few mince pies needing to be run off. Leighton had a few attacks but these were swiftly dealt with. The energetic midfield of Wilding, Wood, Nunn, Saxon and Fury soon took control of the game and veteran goal scorer Wilson made it 1-0to S&S after a fine run into the D.

The second half saw S&S stretch their lead as Green and Wilson combined well to out-fox the Leighton defence with Green scoring from close range.

Wilding’s dynamic run from the left flank resulted in S&S’s third goal and Wilding was also on hand to score S&S’s fourth after a great through ball from Wood. S&S defence held firm with Kelly rarely troubled and keeper Potter spent most of the game as a spectator only touching the ball about three times in the match.

Player of the game went to Emma Wilding.

S&S have important games in January which could have a big impact on the rest of the season.

S&S: Lian Potter, Karen Hall, Gina Kelly, Emma Wilding, Tina Fury, Amelia Wood, Tayla Green, Nat Nunn, Kath Wilson, Kirsten Rayner, Hannah Bartram, Sammi Saxon.
