Potton hosts music festival

There will be a wide range of concerts coming to the area as part of a music festival starting on Friday July 22.

The Potton Music Festival runs until Sunday July 24.

The 2016 festival comprises three main concerts - in Cockayne Hatley, Potton and Sutton - plus a fun family concert and a late concert on Saturday evening.

In addition to concerts during the festival weekend, the Marais Ensemble runs education workshops in local schools and gives informal concerts in community venues including residential homes and pre-schools in the Potton area throughout the year.

The first concert takes place at 8pm on Friday taking place at St John the Baptist Church in Cockayne Hatley.

The concert will feature music by Zelenka, Vivaldi, CPE Bach and Mozart. Some of the music includes the unique baroque instrument the theorbo.

On Saturday at 11am at Burgoyne Middle School in Potton for the family concert.

The next event takes place at St Mary’s Church in Potton starting at 7.30pm.

Classical music by Debussy, Dukas and Ravel including his piano trio in A minor.

The same venue will also be hosting a late night concert starting at 10pm. It will be a relaxing concert of late night favourites.

The final concert comes to All Saints Church in Sutton on Sunday starting at 11.30am.

There will be music by Ravel, Couperin and Elgar
