Winter Burlesque Fest coming to Bedfordshire
“This is about empowerment and joy”
East Anglia’s first winter Burlesque Fest brings glamour, fun and empowerment to Meppershall.
On 29 November, dancers, dreamers and the simply curious will gather in Meppershall for the inaugural East Anglia Winter Burlesque Fest — a day-long celebration of movement, self-expression and community that organiser Kitty Claus from The Fallen Angels Showgirl Academy says is the first of its kind in the region.
Instructors from across East Anglia and beyond will lead four workshops spanning everything from classic Hollywood glamour to lively line dancing. No previous dance experience is required. The only qualification is a willingness to have fun and take part. The day comes with no pressure or judgement, so take part at a level that you feel comfortable with and you are welcome to sot out and take a break as and when you need too.
Among the visiting teachers is Kitty Campari, travelling from Southport especially for the event. Her presence underlines the festival’s ambition to bring high-calibre talent to the area while keeping the atmosphere warm and welcoming.
“This is about empowerment and joy,” Kitty Claus emphasises. “Whether you’ve never stepped on a dance floor or you’ve been performing for years, everyone is invited to explore, laugh and discover what their body can do in a supportive space.”
Local businesses are also being encouraged to get involved. Tables are available for traders to promote their products and services throughout the day, offering a unique opportunity to connect with a diverse and energetic crowd.
As evening falls, the focus shifts to the showcase. The bar will be open, giving attendees the chance to relax, watch the performances and cheer on friends. Those feeling inspired can take the stage themselves. Professional video and photos of each act will be provided as a keepsake or for future casting applications.
To maintain a safe and respectful environment, evening guest tickets are available only by invitation from people attending the full day.
The East Anglia Winter Burlesque Fest promises a rare mix of creativity, confidence-building and pure enjoyment — a chance for the region to step into the spotlight, one sequin and smile at a time.
