Marc Almond gig will not be a hard one to Cell

ROCK covers and classics from different eras will be on the musical agenda in Chronicle Country this weekend.

Hesh will be performing at The Rose in Biggleswade on Saturday (September 8) while Rufus Stone will be playing 1960s favourites at the Biggleswade United Working Men’s Club on the same night.

The four-piece band play their own versions of well-known tracks and always aim to keep their sets fresh.

Three-piece covers band The Replica, meanwhile will be on stage at The Five Bells in Cople on Friday (September 7).

Frankie Martin will be appearing at The Wrestlers in Langford on Saturday, while Antoine Fleuriot will be on the bill at the Ivy Leaf Club in the village, also on Saturday.

Antoine is a solo performer and guitarist who plays pop and rock classics from the 1960s through to the present day.

Staying in Langford, The Rhythm and Blues Band will be performing at The Plough, also on Saturday.

The group play soulful, funky sounds and are sure to bring pub goers to the dance floor.

Over in Potton Finger Print are booked to play at Potton and District Club on Friday, while DJ Ray K will be on the decks for a disco at the venue on Saturday.

October Rose, meanwhile will be providing the rock covers at The White Hart Hotel in Shefford on Friday.

The five-piece function band assure punters of an evening of high energy rock and roll and pub goers can expect to hear numbers from the likes of Queen, The Beatles and Bon Jovi.

DJ Gary G will also be playing rock and blues at a disco at The Green Dragon in Upper Gravenhurst on Saturday.

Britmusic legend Marc Almond will also be making his debut appearance at Bedford Corn Exchange on Monday, October 17, celebrating over 30 years as one of the country’s most darkly distinctive vocalists.

After a turbulent childhood of illness, learning difficulties and house moves, the soon-to-be star left school at 17 with few qualifications and worked in Southport Theatre and on Southport fairground while singing in a local band.

He also spent time at art college developing his unique style of mixing experimental performance and cabaret pop with music and film studies.

It was while studying at Leeds Poly in 1979 that he met David Ball and together they formed the internationally successful electro duo Soft Cell.

They went on to record four albums, three of which were in New York including the iconic, seminal Non Stop Erotic Cabaret.

Decades on Marc Almond continues to prove himself an astonishing live performer and interpreter of classic songs.

This gig is not one to miss and you will be guarenteed an amazing experience.
