Hot Rod will captivate his audience

MADONNA, Kylie Minogue and Cher are just three of the singers gig goers can expect to hear tributes to this weekend.

Solo covers artist Milayna will be singing at Arlesey Football Club on Sunday (October 23), and the above artists are just a small number whose hits the singer performs covers of.

With eight years of experience as a professional singer behind her plus experience as a band musician and cabaret performer Milayna is sure to impress.

A bit of progressive rock never goes amiss of a weekend either and fans of Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and ELP will feel right at home with The Kurmujun.

The four-piece rock band from Cambridge specialise in classic and progressive rock from the late 1960s and 1970s and will be performing at The Rose in Biggleswade on Saturday (October 22).

Punters can expect to hear a wide variety of different sounds and influences at the pub, including from acts as diverse as David Bowie, Cream and Jimi Hendrix among others.

The basic line-up is guitar, bass, drums and vocals but this is often augmented by keyboards, base pedals, a flute and on occasions an additional guitar too.

If progressive rock is not your thing then surely glam rock will be, and if this is the case then Rebel Rebel will surely satisfy your cravings on Saturday.

The Ivy Leaf Club in Langford will be the venue for an evening of hits devoted to the likes of T-Rex, Sweet, David Bowie and Mud.

Dressing in authentic costumes and make-up, the Hertfordshire-based three-piece have a distinguished pedigree in the glam rock world.

Covers band The Vipeas, meanwhile, will be on stage at the Potton and District Club, also on Saturday.

Over at Sandy Village Hall, Almost Abba will be paying tribute to the much-loved disco four-piece on Saturday.

Shillington Village Hall will be the venue for a performance by the Junkyard Preachers, also on Saturday.

A powerful, honest blues band who perform original and traditional numbers, the Preachers play a blend of blues classics, rockabilly greats and simple rock and roll.

Gig goers in Chronicle Country this weekend can also check out solo artist Bob Thomson – who plays covers from the 1960s through to the 1990s – at The Chequers in Stotfold on Friday.

Paul Adams, meanwhile, will be playing classic rock covers at The Green Dragon in Upper Gravenhurst on Saturday.

World-renowned singer songwriter Rod Picott has been compared to the likes of Steve Earle and Bruce Springsteen, meanwhile.

But far from being a bandwagon-jumping soundalike Rod’s live shows are a rare chance to experience an intimate and exciting acoustic set from an artist renowned for his honesty and eloquence, and his captivating whisky-voiced storytelling.

Picott will take to the Holy Moly’s stage at Esquires in Bedford on Saturday.

As well as his own unique work he has collaborated with some of the industry’s most celebrated musicians including Alison Krauss and his long-term co-writer Slaid Cleaves.
