Garden waste collections to stop for winter across Central Bedfordshire

Garden waste collections across Central Bedfordshire will be suspended for almost three months over the winter.

Central Bedfordshire Council will pause the service from Monday, November 30, with collections set to resume on the week of Monday, February 22, 2027.

The final collection dates will depend on residents’ usual schedules, with the last collections taking place during the weeks beginning November 16 or November 23.

You can check your garden waste collection dates on the council’s website, where you can also sign up for email alerts about collection schedules and future garden waste subscription renewals.

Residents will still have options for getting rid of garden waste while kerbside collections are suspended.

The council’s four Household Waste Recycling Centres are open daily from 9am to 5pm, including bank holidays. Residents can book a visit online here.

Reusable 55-litre garden waste sacks are also available for £7.32 each, with residents able to buy up to five sacks to transport waste to a recycling centre. The sacks cannot be used for kerbside collections and will not be emptied if left outside for collection.

Residents with space in their gardens can also compost their waste at home, turning it into useful compost.

All other waste and recycling collections will continue as normal during the winter.
