Sandy Town Council has agreed to support and collaborate with Biggleswade Town Council (BTC) in their application for a Banking Hub to serve the joint communities of Biggleswade and Sandy.

They would like to consider making an application on the grounds that the hub operates across two sites, one in Sandy and one in Biggleswade, which would make it more convenient for some of the town's more elderly, and other less mobile residents.

Sandy used to host a hub at the Council's offices when the local branches closed but this was short lived. Challenges arose when staff seconded to run the hub were called away by the bank to cover work in branches elsewhere.

Bank closures have had a significant impact on residents—particularly the elderly and those without access to online banking—as well as on local businesses that rely on in-person services.

It is important to understand what services would be offered by the hub so the community can take full advantage.
