It will shut on Wednesday, November 4 at 4pm and reopen on Thursday, December 3, subject to government advice.

A spokesman said: “Although closed to the public, we will be:

“Working with artists and promoters to reschedule live events wherever possible, and will inform ticket-holders by email as soon as we can.

“Extending our current exhibitions, Zadie Xa: Child of Magohalmi and the Echoes of Creation and Marc Bauer: Mal/Être Performance to Sunday 3 January 2021

“Aiming to open our new exhibitions, Rock Against Racism: Militant Entertainment 1976-82 and All In The Same Storm: Pandemic Patchwork Stories on 23 January 2021

“Developing online events, activities and content including the All Welcome Reading Group and The Art of Conversation with Aphasia research project, and our offsite and online work with schools, colleges, universities and other community partners.

“Planning our festive offer including a new winter menu, Christmas lunches and Christmas dinner evenings.

“Continuing our work as a South East Creatives hub, offering support for creative practitioners.

“Working with our local authority and tourism partners on the recovery of the visitor economy of the region.”

The spokesman added: “Dates are subject to change so please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for further updates.

“During this period we will continue with our fundraising efforts, seeking support from Trusts and funding bodies to help us during our recovery. A second closure means significant loss of income and challenging times ahead. We are your Pavilion; please support us by making a donation or becoming a Member or Patron.

“Whilst we are closed, you can contact us by email on [email protected] or, if your query is about tickets, you can email [email protected]. As always please allow us time to respond in during this difficult period – some of us will be working from home so we appreciate your patience. We’ll be back again soon!”
