Sponsored walk helped RBL’s appeal

The Sandy and district branch of the Royal British Legion’s sponsored poppy walk was held on Sunday (September 9).

Sandy Mayor Susan Sutton officially started the walk at noon.

Branch chairman Roger Sparks said: “This is the first such walk that this branch has held and it is hoped that once all sponsorship money has been collected that we will raise about £800 for the Poppy Appeal.”

The walk was sponsored by Jordans Ryvita and Sainsbury’s as well as by many individuals.

Roger thanked everyone who was involved.

Funds will help injured service personnel and their families.
