Store urges customers to support appeal

Customers at a pet store are being urged to help animals in need this Christmas.

Pets at Home in Biggleswade is now operating its Santa Paws appeal, which collects gifts and donations for abandoned animals over the festive season.

The scheme has now been running for three years.

Shoppers at the store are asked to buy an extra gift or make a donation to benefit a needy pet at an animal rescue centre in the area.

Customers can also choose to take part in the ‘round up to a £1’ initiative, where they opt to round up the cost of their purchases to £1, with the difference donated to animal rescues.

Store manager Alann Di Marco said: “Customers simply pay for their gift at the till and receive a sticker to place on the product.

“The gift can then be placed in the charity collection bin found in store.

“We will then invite local rescues to come in and collect whatever has been donated.”

Santa Paws is run by Support Adoption For Pets.
