Volunteering is now booming

A VOLUNTEER who founded her own group has left her post after 15 years.

Marie Stainton started the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) in Sandy with just 12 members.

Under her leadership the group, which helps in schools and other local organisations, has flourished and there are now more than 60 members.

Marie, who lives in St Neots Road, said: “We now have around 60 or 70 members which is wonderful. I’ve got to know so many people around Sandy and made friends with them.

“But now I really feel it’s time to devote more time to my family, friends and neighbours.”
