Managed parking coming to Sandy's town centre car park

Managed parking is coming to Sandy after concerns from residents and businesses.

Sandy Town Council has confirmed that work will begin on January 26 at its Town Centre Car Park to introduce managed parking, with the new arrangements going live on February 15.

This decision follows concerns and feedback from local residents and businesses about long-stay parking, limited space availability, and the impact this has on access for customers, visitors, and short-stay users.

After careful consideration Sandy Town Council has decided to introduce a managed parking system designed to improve turnover, availability, and fairness of use. The changes aim to ensure the car park better supports local businesses, improves access for residents and visitors, and encourages more efficient use of parking spaces.

Introducing charges will help discourage all-day parking, making it easier for customers and visitors to find spaces when they need them. This approach reflects concerns raised locally and supports a more balanced use of the car park, particularly during busy periods.

Work to prepare the site will start on January 26, with signage and systems in place ahead of the February 15 go-live date.

Sandy Town Council would like to thank residents and business owners for taking the time to share their views and help shape a solution that responds to local needs.
