Caudwell Children, who provide practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, has received funding, from the Ibbett and Thomas Curtis Charitable Trust’s, to supply two life-enhancing therapy tricycles to disabled children in the area.

The charity is now appealing for families to come forward and apply for the equipment.

The tricycles - costing between £800 and £1,500 - are individually designed to meet the needs of each disabled child and help provide physiotherapy, build muscle tone and promote play.

They also help benefit growth and development in children with disabilities, enabling them to keep active and retain their independence.

The charity wants to hear from families of disabled children in Bedfordshire and is asking them to come forward and claim the life changing equipment - and they are urging families to get in touch before the funding is withdrawn.

Trudi Beswick, chief executive of Caudwell Children, said: “We donate hundreds of life-changing therapy tricycles to disabled children throughout the UK each year, but we currently have no applicants in Bedfordshire.

“Disabled children get huge physical and emotional benefits from having the specially adapted tricycles, which are each custom made to suit the individual child’s needs.

“As well as providing regular exercise and physical therapy, the tricycles give children a renewed sense of inclusion which improves self-esteem and confidence.

“We are desperate to hear from anyone caring for a disabled child, who will be able to benefit from the tricycles, as we have until the middle of August to allocate the money. After this date there is a real risk that it may be withdrawn.”

If your family or anybody you know could benefit from this please call 0345 300 1348 and ask to speak to the applications team.
