‘Thank you for the music’ as Potton Music 4 Memory marks 10th anniversary
Music 4 Memory has marked its 10-year anniversary of supporting people living with dementia and their families through music therapy in Potton.
The group, part of the Tibbs Dementia Foundation, held a party to celebrate marking the achievements and growing community through cake, critters, poetry, and music.
The event was attended by both current and former members and staff along with people who have contributed and fundraised for the group over the past decade.
The party was also attended by Bedford-based animal encounter specialist Safari Stu, whose own father previously attended the group for a number of years. Stu brought along an amazing selection of animals for everyone to meet.

In traditional Music 4 Memory style, the occasion featured a variety of music and singing, including performances from Gideon of the Philharmonia Orchestra, brilliant guitar work from group member Bryan, and an original poem written by fellow attendee Penny – and cake.
Music 4 Memory and the wider Tibbs Dementia Foundation extended thanks to everyone who has played a part in its Potton journey over the last decade, as it looks to continue its vital work in the community for many years to come.
Alison Shaw, Music Therapist at Tibbs Dementia Foundation, said: “I am so grateful to the people of Potton for supporting us over the years, and so proud of how the group has grown and flourished. It is amazing to see just how music and community can really bring people together.
“This celebration was a fitting tribute to such wonderful people that support each other through what can be such a difficult time. Thank you for the music, Potton Music 4 Memory”
Established in 2016, Tibbs Dementia Foundation’s Music 4 Memory is a weekly music therapy community group for people living with dementia, as well as their support network of family and carers. The Potton-based group is run by experienced music therapist Alison Shaw, alongside dedicated and friendly Tibbs staff and fantastic volunteer support.
Since the early days, the project has grown to become a popular and thriving community group based at the Potton Hall 4 All. Music 4 Memory is supported by local charities such as Potton Consolidated Charity and the Potton Ladies Club.
